Car Insurance Honda (Car Insurance). What's a good stereo deck? What's a good stereo deck? I recently had a Kenwood deck that was great but somone broke into my car and stole it. Basically I want a deck that: -is not an Alpine -no more then $350 -has a REAR usb port Those are the definites. Other things that I prefer but are not completely necessary are: -ability to change colors -built in bluetooth -bulit in HD radio -Front AUX port (still must have rear usb) Thank you very much for your help, and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask! As far as non-Alpine radios with a rear USB, there are plenty. Pioneer, JVC, and Kenwood all make units with a rear USB, most with a front AUX as well. Other brands like Sony will use a front USB, and a rear connection dedicated for Ipod hookup. If you really want bluetooth as well, and would also like the HD, one of my favorite new decks is the Kenwood KDC-BT948U. It has rear USB, built in bluetooth, built in HD, pretty good audio adjustments like Front/Rear time alignment, graphic and parametic EQs, and it even changes colors! Pioneer also makes rear USB units, but none have both the HD AND the bluetooth. Although you said 'not ALpine', they are my personal favorites. No built in anything, no color changing, but my CDA-117 has amazing EQs (7band graphic, 5band parametic, T/A), is Imprint, ready, and has both a rear USB and a rear Ipod hookup. Just make sure your next deck is detachable face (they pretty much all are), and that you take the faceplate off obviously. sony It's amazing! It may help. http://boxee.info/159356/hd-radio Auto parts : Distributor Cap Carbon Brush Acura 1995 . Honda . How to Check Shock AbsorbersShocks take a beating on a vehicle's suspension. They dampen the impact from the road while maintaining the stability and weight of the vehicle. Coil springs or leaf springs assist the shocks, but it's the shocks' job to stabilize the vehicle and lessen the rebound. Depending on the weight and use of your vehicle, the shocks and struts can last between 30,000 to 50,000 miles. Changing them within these ranges will help the stability and safety of the vehicle as well as enhance the comfort of the ride. It's simple to diagnose the telltale signs of shock and strut failure. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Jack Jack stand Flashlight or drop-light Step by Step : 1 Test-drive the vehicle. This test should be conducted in a low-traffic area or empty parking lot to review maneuverability and handling. The test should include accelerating quickly to determine if the rear sags for more than a few seconds. Apply the brakes hard to determine if the front nosedives for more than a few seconds. Take hard turns to diagnose if the cornering of the vehicle creates excessive rocking motion and lack of stability. Drive on a dirt or bumpy road or parking lot to ascertain if the shocks or struts bottom out with audible clunking noises when hitting obstacles in the road. 2 Park the vehicle on level ground and turn it off. Apply the parking brake. Approach the rear of the vehicle and place your knee on the bumper or both hands on the back of the vehicle and push it to ground as hard as you can. Jounce the rear suspension three times and then let go. Count the amount of rebound movements the vehicle makes. Any more than two rebound movements and the shocks should be replaced. Repeat this procedure for the front suspension. 3 Visually inspect each shock. If necessary, lift the quarter panel of the vehicle, one at a time, using a floor jack and jack stand. Employ a drop-light or flashlight to help you see if necessary. Check the shaft of the shock or strut for oily wetness or caked-on dirt. Shocks contain hydraulic oil or gas and can sometimes leak out of a spent shock. Because of its oily consistency, dirt and grime can sometimes cover the oil and mask the leaking appearance. Check the upper and lower shock mounts and bushings for unusual wear. Upper mounts and bushings include rubber between metal contacts. When the rubber wears out, it can cause the metal eyelet of the shock or bearing plate of the strut to strike the metal of the tower when demand is placed on the suspension. Check all four corners of the vehicle. 4 Inspect the tires for uneven wear. Weak suspension components can cause excessive bounce when traveling. This transfers onto the tires and creates a feathering or cupping of the tread. Run your hand over the tread in each direction. If the tire is wearing evenly, you will not feel resistance of feathering or cupping wear.
Honda . History of Shock AbsorbersA shock absorber is a device used to smooth jolts or shocks and to disperse kinetic energy. Shock absorbers are crucial in motorcycle and automobile suspension, in landing gear for aircraft and as part of the support systems for industrial machines. A large version of the shock absorber is sometimes used in structural engineering to add stability and lessen damage from earthquakes and other disasters. The shock absorber is usually a cylinder that contains a sliding piston that is cushioned by hydraulic fluid or air. Types Vehicle shock absorber types include twin tube shocks, coil over shocks, pressurized shocks, mono-tube or single wall shocks, external reservoir shocks, bypass shocks and dual shocks. First Shock Absorbers In 1898, French cyclist J. M. M. Truffault introduced the very first shock absorber on his bicycle. It consisted of front fork suspension with springs and a device that minimized vibrations. The next year, Truffault and American auto enthusiast Edward Harford collaborated on the first adjustable shock absorber. In 1901, M. A. Yeakley built on their efforts with an early independent suspension design in which each wheel was supported independently. Hydraulic Suspension In 1901, C. L. Horock created the first modernized shock absorber and called it the "telescopic shock absorber." Shock absorbers manufactured today are still based on his initial concept. The next year, hydraulic shock absorbers began to attract the attention of automobile racers, race car builders and mechanics. During the 1902 and 1903 racing seasons, hydraulic suspension was widely used. Hybrid SuspensionModel T Suspension A number of basic advancements were made to shock absorbers over the next few years, but they were still not widely used. In 1908, Ford launched the Model T with a hybrid suspension system that was made up of traditional leaf suspension combined with two springs mounted on the axles. Later that same year, Frenchman M. Houdaille created the first hydraulic shock absorber that had any real reliability. Pneumatic Suspension From 1909 through the 1920s, there were very advances, despite ongoing work with the new friction systems. In 1932 Packard introduced a shock absorber that could be adjusted by the driver. This was followed closely by Firestone's experimental car, the Stout-Scarab, which used a pneumatic suspension system of four rubber bellows instead of traditional springs. Air for the system was delivered by compressors that were attached to each bellow. Modern Suspension Over the next 50 years, new systems appeared, like Monroe's hydraulic shocks, Earl S. MacPherson's strut suspension and an independent coil system used by General Motors, Hudson Motors and Chrysler. Gradually, most car manufacturers began to rely on hydraulic systems and telescopic shock absorbers. In 1982, the active suspension system was patented, and in 1985, Nissan launched electronically adjustable shock absorbers that automatically responded to speed, driving style and road conditions. *ftfe^ip^^'^ case ^^^^ Low pPJ / electrolyte To check your battery, follow these steps: 1. If you have a battery with removable caps or bars on top, remove them. (See Figure 3-5.) These days, most batteries are sealed. Never open a battery with a lit cigarette in your mouth. (For that matter, never smoke while working around your car!) Batteries are filled with an acid that generates hydrogen gas, so you want to be careful when working around them. If you get the liquid on your skin or clothes, wash it off with water immediately. 2. If your battery is not sealed, look inside the battery. 198

The cruddy deposits that form in lovely colors on the top of your terminals are made by battery acid. Before you clean this stuff off, remove the cables from the positive terminal and negative terminal by undoing the nut on each cable clamp and wiggling the cable until the clamp comes off the terminal post. Always remove the cable clamp from the negative terminal first. (It's the one that's marked with a - sign.) Replace the positive cable first and the Honda . 2000 explorer keeps cutting out and dying at a quarter tank of gas. car will start back up but will not run good until i add gas?

If you attempt to remove the positive clamp first and your wrench slips and touches something metal, your wrench can fuse to the part like an arc welder. Brush the deposits off the terminal posts and cable clamps with an old toothbrush or disposable nonmetallic brush and a mixture of baking soda and water. Sprinkle the baking soda straight from the little yellow box that keeps your refrigerator smelling nice, dip the brush in water, and scrub the deposits away. Par t l: Getting Started If your cables and clamps won't clean up completely with baking soda and water, rotate a round battery terminal cleaner brush (see Figure 3-6) on each terminal to shine it up and ensure a good, solid electrical connection. You can also shine up the insides of the cable clamps by using the clamp cleaner that is usually sold as one unit with the terminal brush. If you can't find these brushes, use a soapless steel wool pad. Honda . Can you mount a trailer license plate vertically?
